OUR FACILITIES
The accommodation we provide is designed to make our residents feel comfortable in their surroundings. We actively encourage residents to decorate their room with their own belongings to promote a sense of familiarity. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and some have en-suite toilet facilities.
As well as large private areas, the home has two large lounges where residents can relax or meet with visitors.
At the rear of the house, there is a sunken garden, where residents can sit or enjoy a spot of gardening.
We also take our residents on trips outside the home as a way of encouraging more social interaction, physical and mental stimulation.
Our catering staff provide a traditional and varied menu of delicious home-cooked meals. All specific dietary requirements and nutritional needs of residents are catered for.
CUISINE
At Nelson House we understand that good quality, nutritious food as an important component for health and well-being in all our residents' lives.
The cuisine at Nelson House is all freshly prepared each day. Our cook provides a varied and balanced menu and happily caters for special diets and preferences, where requested.
At Nelson House none of the food served is delivered ready-made and all dishes are cooked on the premises in our well-equipped and clean kitchen. Drinks and snacks are also served throughout the day.
Residents can choose to enjoy the social aspect of meal times by taking their meals in our comfortable dining room or in the privacy of their own rooms, if they so choose
STAFF
All our staff are employed under a rigorous process which enables us to find the best candidates for the job. All our care staff have, or at least are working towards a QCF (formerly NVQ) Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care.
We are committed to keeping our staff up to date with changing procedure and legislation using a continuous staff training programme.
Our staff are passionate and committed to providing the highest standard of care. Continuity of care is of utmost importance to us and our residents. We keep our staff happy and motivated to ensure that turnover is low by conducting regular appraisals.
Our open and friendly management team allows staff, residents and family members to share any concerns or ideas freely.
